Haig Road Food Center Part 2: Kentang Ball & Roti John

Since we were already at Haig road food center, we decided to explore the other food stalls that were there and one of those that stood out was the Kentang ball which literally means Potato ball. It's a very uncommon Malay dish. It comes in a bowl of lightly flavored soup with lots of onions and cucumbers. The Kentang ball sits in the middle like an island. It's made out of mash potatoes stuffed with minced beef and fried to keep it intact. The soup itself isn't spectacular, but when you break apart the ball, the potatoes just disintegrates into the soup and turns it into a stew. It's a very hearty breakfast since it has potatoes, meat, vegetables and soup. This is something you might want to try if you want something very different.
